| We just made our regular (once every few years) trip into our dark and dank dungeon basement, and returned mostly unharmed with the following games from our past. Only ONE of each is assured. All are still shrink wrapped unless otherwise noted, although some dust has seeped through during the decades since they were produced. | |||
|
|
Maxi Bour$e:
We found several copies of this long out of
print game of "International Finance". This edition is the TSR version from
1989. We found them in our warehouse/dungeon, and cleaning the dust off we
observed that although all the games are still unopened (shrink wrapped),
there is some spots of staining or discoloration noticeable under the
plastic covering on the boxes. Players move around a game board bearing the names of forty (real) international corporations (i.e., PepsiCo, IBM, Peugot, etc.), buying and selling stocks in each. Stock prices change according to supply and demand. The idea is to gain control of an industry by acquiring more than 1/2 the stock in 3 of the 4 companies within an industry or build a conglomerate by having more than half the stock of five companies in different industries. For 2-6 Players, ages 10+ Only ONE Remains | $19.98

Limit-Up |
Limit=>Up Board Game:
This rare game was commissioned by The
Chicago Board of Trade to teach and familiarize the public with the
ins and outs of commodity futures trading. The object is to accumulate as
much wealth as possible through the buying and selling of commodity
contracts. Players trade in seven commodities: two grains (corn and wheat),
two meats (cattle and hogs), one industrial metal (copper), one money
instrument (T-Bills), and one precious metal (gold). These commodities
differ in their volatility; the higher the volatility, the greater the
opportunity for both profit and loss. "Insider trading", leverage,
Government policy, weather, and other market forces all play a part. For 2-4
players, no ages listed (estimated 12+) Some feel this is less a game and more like going to school, and to some extent, they are correct. But Limit Up can be fun to play while you learn, unlike it's venerable companion game "Stock Market Specialist" (from the NYSE), which we felt required an accountant (or Pro Quicken) to make playing that 6 hour marathon even possible. High Rollers |
High Rollers: This is the 1988 edition from Parker Bros. based on the 2nd TV version with Wink Martindale on the box. The original TV show was from 1974 and was hosted by a young Alex Trebek. Game is still shrink wrapped but (obviously) has been collecting dust for 2 decades. | $18.48

Across the Board |
Across the Board Horse Racing Game:
One of the better horse racing designs and one
of the games we sold the day we opened in 1978. For 3-7, 12+ Thoroughbred auctions, simulated pari-mutuel betting and racing at 4 world famous tracks are part of the game. The coupons & other offers on the back of the box are most certainly expired....:) Only ONE Remains |
$14.63 | |
| Moonshine |
Moonshine Board Game:
Another one we stocked from our opening in 1978. The big yellow box
(23"x15"x1.5" inches) holds a playing board of similar size. We liked
playing this game. It had a unique (at the time) game system as players
could take the role of the Police or the rum runners; it was one of the
first to have this mechanic of playing either one side or the other. The
"bad guys" have deception and mobility and the cops can lay traps as they
speed through the back roads of what seems like Appalachia. For 2-5 players,
ages not listed but estimated 10+ Only ONE Remains |
