IPod & IOS Game Apps we like after a few months with this unbelievable toy....er, business machine...
We have NOT been trying to play these on line (yet) so the below games are based on solo vs AI games. We will modify this list as we experience more apps and more plays of these. There are lots of quality blogs and sites with reviews on these game apps, and this list is only calling attention to some that may be of interest.

**It's not that I haven't been trying new apps of late, but everything since Puerto Rico has been nothing to write home about
But over the past few days, everything has changed... a lot!

NEW TITLES

New World Colony A real surprise (and free atm). I'm really enjoying this clever resource / building game. free
Forbidden Island Never played the board version...thought it was light weight. Wrong! It's tense, challenging probably deserved the SDJ over Dixit (my 2 cents). Great implementation. 4.99
Tigris & Euphrates One of my favorite board games, it can be (and was for me) quite dauting. Soon 5.99
Keltis AKA Lost Cities The Board Game. Too many new games; looking for ward to playing soon.
  Current Rotation (Games played weekly)
Level 2 (Played Monthly)
In the Bull Pen (Waiting to get to these)
Apprx.$
Ticket to Ride Faithful & fun adaptation of the Board Game; AI is not bad. Comes with US & Europe maps. Expansions available. My favorite to date. 5.99
Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer Billed as the first ISO deck-builder game, it delivers immensely addictive play with a near perfect interface. I regret not playing the box version, but if it's really this good, I would have expected it to sell much better... :) 4.99
Puerto Rico Excellent rendering for the IPad that I'm fining addictive and challenging. Doubt if this is ideal for smaller devices. Price at release is $7.99. Very very good but having trouble beating it. 9.99
Tichu Very challenging version for one of our fav. card games; multip. AIs & fun. I play this often. 2.99
Kingsburg Some minor graphic issues but they can be worked around. Good fun, good game, AI is OK. A favorite of mine. 3.99
Neuroshima Hex NH seems similar to Samurai (below) with it's hex map and basic strategies. It takes a a few plays to learn the pieces (the player aids at BGG helped), but it is very addictive while becoming one of my early favs. Expansions available. 4.99
Carcassonne Considered the best of the Euro Game apps, this SdJ winner has excellent graphics & play; good AI; nearly perfect adaptation with expansions due soon. 9.99
Tikal Well adapted Kramer SDJ winner. I waited to get it on sale (6/2011) for 2.99. A few plays in and it feels like the board game but plays MUCH faster :0 , which is a very very good thing. Playing it more... liking it more. 2.99
Wabash Actually, this is really "Chicago Express", the highly rated Martin Wallace board game. I was under the impression this was a very complicated board game but it is elegantly designed and fairly easy to get into. Just got it Aug. 13, but I have high hopes for this after doing the tutorial. More on this one later. Currently on sale for 1.99 1.99
Scotland Yard This 1983 SdJ winner was the 2nd Euro game I wore out after '79s winner Hare & Tortoise. It's another very good implementation of the original with a so so AI. You can play Mr. X and let the AI handle all the chasing detectives or play several detectives trying to cuff the crook. You can even play with humans. It helps to be familiar with the play; the rules seem scarce so you may need to find a full set online (or stop in and I'll get you going.. I really like the game and the app works for me as well. 0.99
Medici A Kinizia auction game, done well on the IPad. Be patient bidding and you should do fine. June 2011 on sale 1.99 1.99
RA Another Kinizia auction game that those not familiar with the board game version may find confusing. This one is becoming one of my favorites, however, and on sale 2.99 (June 2011), I'm happy to have it. 2.99
Ingenious Yet another Kinizia fav of ours; good implementation of this puzzle / placement game which we call a simplified abstract version of Tigris & Euphrates stripped of the theme. 2.99
Croke Crokinole on the IPad? amazing, fun, good controls. I found using the "spring shot" made it play much easier. Hot seat possibility could be fun too. Saves wear & tear on your fingernails, never needs waxed, cost about $100 less & much more portable than the real thing. :) I've seen reviews claiming there are better versions of this. I've purchased 2 and deleted them both. This is still the one. 1.99
Disc Drivin' Carabande / Pitch Car / Bixikle inspired game. Well implemented with several tracks. I only tried the Free Version and the constant adds and interrupts are annoying. Still, a nice pass & play game for 2. Like the above Croke, you don't need to cart around the wood version. :) Free
1.99
Samurai ISO version of Dr. Knizia's board game (finding this one hard to win early on.) 3.99
Generals (Got Generals) Old timers will remember this electronic "clone" of Stratego from the '80s. I loved it then, and feel quite the same about this version. 1.99
Jigsaw Box The best Jigsaw Puzzle app or PC program I've tried. If you like Jigsaw Puzzles, check this out. Free most times. Free
Start Player Not a game but a virtual deck of cards that helps decide who goes first in a board game. Very useful, fun, funny and worth owning for .99 since the zman version has been out of print for ages. .99
Tiger Woods PGA OK for the price since I've always liked this type of game. Not for all though and takes a lot of practice to shine. 4.99
Tunein Radio If you like music, get this app and you'll be happy you did. .99
Starbase Orion New for the IOS5, this appears to be very much like the venerable PC game Master of Orion 2 (MOO2). More on this as I learn how to play but I'm very optimistic and held MOO2 in the highest regard. This looks like it will take some time to figure out play, not much (or any) help, rules or tutorial that I can find. 4.99
Civilization Revolution I'm getting a lot of play with this. Reviews have been luke warm but I can't find any serious problems at all. Well worth the sale price. It's a lite version of the PC Civ4 game. 4.99
Pirates The old Sid Meir PC game. I recall liking this back in the day, but despite the good word of mouth, I can't seem to get into it. Will likely delete it. Too bad 4.99
Money Yet another Kinizia fav of ours but haven't gotten to it yet
Through the Desert Yet another Kinizia fav of ours but haven't gotten to it yet
High Society Yet another Kinizia fav of ours but haven't gotten to it yet
